European Cluster Leaders and Innovation Ecosystems

Eindhoven, March 27, 2025
Eindhoven, Holland 27.3.2025 The Slovak Battery Alliance participated in the Clusters Meet Regions event at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven on March 26–27, 2025, represented by one of its delegates. This 19th edition of the event showcased North Brabant as a leading innovation hub in Europe. The event was organized by the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP) in cooperation with Brainport Development, AgriFood Capital, and the Province of Noord-Brabant. The two-day gathering brought together cluster managers, policymakers, and representatives of innovation ecosystems from across Europe.

Clusters Meet Regions is part of a European initiative aimed at connecting regional clusters with policy decisions, strengthening industrial ecosystems, sharing best practices, and addressing shared challenges in economic development.

The host region, North Brabant, demonstrated the strength of the triple helix model of collaboration, which brings together industry, academia, and public administration. This model underpins an innovation environment that is home to global tech giants like ASML. The region also leads in areas such as robotics and artificial intelligence, semiconductors, agri-food technologies, and security.

The Clusters Meet Regions event in Eindhoven demonstrated that talent, focus, innovation, and collaboration are the foundation of thriving ecosystems.

Sustainable innovation begins with people. Financing should not be solely about capital—it must also focus on attracting, developing, and retaining the talent that can drive clusters forward. Clusters are strongest when they build on regional strengths and have clear goals, enabling effective connections between research and industry. Successful clusters must be adapted to local economic conditions. Flexibility and the ability to respond to regional needs are key to creating truly innovative ecosystems. Strong ecosystems emerge when stakeholders understand one another and act in unison.

In the end, it’s not about making the impossible possible – it’s about taking action and doing what others might not even imagine,” said Sander Groenen, CEO of AgriFood Capital.
