The Slovak Battery Alliance (SBaA) provided an official opinion on the presented results of the study “Impact of BESS battery devices on the provision of aFRR and mFRR support services for SEPS”, which was published on the website of SEPS a.s.
SBaA is the only professional organisation that submits comments on various legislative regulations in the field of battery storage facilities. It is a member of several international organisations and its members are the most important manufacturers, suppliers and service providers related to the battery industry in Slovakia. It felt it necessary to respond to a situation where the suspension of certification of stand-alone batteries has been in place for more than 14 months.
The SBaA's position was mainly related to the following proposals and requirements:
(a) Allowing equal space for all technologies in terms of legislation and experience of EU countries (allowing the provision of aFRR and mFRR services from stand-alone batteries)
b) Removal of the condition of a maximum limit of 15% of the total required volume of support services to be procured from BESS
c) publishing the full study “Impact of BESS battery installations on the provision of aFRR and mFRR support services to the SEPS” and inviting discussion.
SBaA will inform its members of the response from SEPS.
